Natural barrier against viruses and bacteria
ViroStop oral and nasal spray creates a protective film on the mucous membrane of the oral and nasal cavity and thus prevents the penetration of bacteria and viruses into the body.
The main active ingredient of ViroStop is cistus creticus (cretan rockrose).
This unique plant is characterized by a high content of polyphenols.
Polyphenols provide chemical and physical defense, creating a so-called shield to prevent penetration of bacteria and viruses into cells.
Researchers at Herb-pharma AG Switzerland have developed ViroStop spray, a unique combination of natural ingredients which properties make it effective both in prevention and protection against pathogens.
ViroStop has been on the market several years now, helping to prevent and treat the symptoms of influenza and cold, the most common infectious diseases that are accompanied by airway disorders and other significant symptoms.
The current situation in 2020 led us to testing the efficacy of ViroStop against SARS-CoV-2.
In vitro study - The virus neutralization test
Experts from the Hungarian Complex Medical Centre Déli Clinic in Budapest, led by virologist and clinical microbiologist dr. István Jankovics, in their research mainly focused on the effects of polyphenols of cistus creticus. These polyphenols bind well to the surface of viruses and cells and disrupt their protein envelope, increasing their inhibitory effect. In vitro studies have shown that extracts from cretan cyst are able to prevent the virus from multiplying (including the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2).
We tested the Virostop solution, which we applied to covid-infected cell cultures from the kidneys of green monkey, that are standardly used in viral replication testing. It was found that the extract from cistus creticus in the solution that in addition contains extracts of sage, purple coneflower, acerola and citrus bioflavonoids, even when diluted 1: 640, is even more effective than cretan cistus itself.

Clinical investigationThe clinical study has been conducted with the involvement of 170 PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 patients at Complex Medical Centre clinic, Budapest, Hungary between January 15 and May 31, 2021. Those patients, who used Virostop spray from the first day after PCR positivity, showed a nearly 60% reduction in virus shedding on day 12, compared with the control group. This means that the use of Virostop spray significantly inhibits the amount of SARS CoV-2 in the upper respiratory tract, thus providing an opportunity for the infected person to develop a specific immune response.
applied through mouth and nose, create a protective barrier on the mucosa of the upper respiratory tract. This barrier actively neutralizes viruses and bacteria and thus protects your organism against the viruses and bacteria.
