Intimate Health During the Coronavirus Pandemic
As the UK government is quickly preparing themselves for the outbreak of Covid-19, we can’t help but try to take matters into our own hands and try to create our own preventative measures to heal in advance what we could experience in the following days, weeks, and even months. With the future being unknown, one thing is known - people will still need access to sexual and reproductive health services, but how will it be handled?
To help pause to panic and heal our mind, we’ve compiled our advice, expertise and good practise to create a guide for you to help you deal with any situations occurring in the next little while. We hope this gives you a little peace of mind within the madness.
How to Treat:
Vaginal Infections
Experiencing any type of vaginal infection can be daunting, but it’s always important to consider the severity of the situation - if urgent care is needed or not.
When taken into consideration, this not only prevents an overflow of people in clinics, but also helps keeps distance as enforced. If you happen to be prone to recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), it can be helpful to pick up an over the counter treatment to ensure preventative measures. Gyntima Probiotica and Probiotica Forte both treat pre existing infections, and can also be used to avoid any new problems.
Regulating Contraception
As consuming any form of contraception, whether it be the pill, patch or ring, make sure to take inventory as soon as you can to avoid running out in a tricky time. Purchasing condoms, birth control, or any other forms of contraception that applies to you will allow you to take a more relaxed approach which prevents you from panicking while trying to isolate yourself.
If you're instructed to self-isolate, contact your general practitioner or your nearest prescribing pharmacy, who can further arrange a form of house-delivery or pick up.
Menopause
When experiencing Menopause, symptoms can easily be elevated due to the stress that Covid-19 could bring on. Looking to alleviate symptoms? Gyntima Menopausa is a great hormone-free preparation to alleviate some of the unpleasant symptoms of menopause.
The Gyntima Menopausa vaginal suppositories contain isoflavone-rich soy extract, hyaluronic acid, added lactic acid and sage - all nutrient rich ingredients that helps to restore moisture, supports the natural vaginal lactic acid production and helps to maintain the acidity of the vagina, allowing you to navigate away from discomfort.
Treating STIs
If experiencing any symptoms of STIs, contact your local sexual health clinic - although some are temporarily closed, they may refer patients to pre-booking appointments. Home testing is also available as it can be ordered online with home delivery (sometimes free of charge depending on your location).
Although we’re living in uncertain times, it’s important, now more than ever to take some time to take a deep breath, calm your mind, and heal your body. With any forthcoming appointments, the NHS will contact you, and The Royal College of General Practitioners is leading appointments through video consultations or through the telephone.
Remember, the storm shall pass.
Be safe 👋🏻,
Gyntima Team
